The Lone Acting Nominees

Episode 18 - The Whisperers (with Gabe Guarin)

Episode Summary

In this episode, my guest and I discussed a movie which neither of us had seen before, Bryan Forbes's THE WHISPERERS, which earned Dame Edith Evans her third Oscar nomination in five years, as well as a whole slew of precursor wins leading up to the ceremony, where she ultimately lost to Katharine Hepburn for Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Other topics include the Best Black and White Cinematography category, Bryan Forbes as a patron saint of lone acting nominees, and a film title I can't help but sing to the tune of "Shallow"
