The Lone Acting Nominees

Episode 1 - Beginners (with David Turgay)

Episode Summary

In my first full episode, I'm joined by my friend David Turgay to discuss Mike MIlls' Beginners (2011), which earned its lone acting nomination for Christopher Plummer's supporting performance as a septuagenarian who comes out as gay to his son five years before he dies - a rare instance of a lone acting winner! Other topics include Christopher Plummer's other gay role, Kenneth Branagh being banned from Laurence Olivier's funeral, and the apparent similarities between Albert Brooks and Jennifer Lopez!
